Dr. Hayes started his career at The Academy of Health Sciences in San Antonio, Texas. As an army Physical Therapy Specialist, he was privileged to care for America’s military men and women. While stationed at the prestigious Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., he experienced working with victims of trauma and the joy of helping amputees to walk again. While at Walter Reed, he was exposed to veracious injuries, disease and illness. He still marvels at how those experiences over 30 years ago shape the way he looks at life and health today.
While attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, he learned multiple adjusting techniques, some know as “Palmer Package”. Early on in practice, he saw several challenging patients with disc injuries as well as advanced degeneration. He then decided to learn and specialize in the Cox Technique of spinal adjusting. This has allowed him to not only keep people from surgery, but to also care for those who thought they could not be adjusted.
After a health scare for him, Dr. Hayes pursued further learning in the areas of metabolic detoxification and nutrition. Through targeting and proper detoxification, he has been privileged to assess people with multiple health issues including fibromyalgia and systemic issues.
As a former migraine sufferer, Dr. Hayes encourages anyone who things they are doomed to a life of migraine pain to make an appointment and start their recovery as soon as possible. He feels that people just don’t have to live with migraines.
Dr. Hayes is blessed with a wonderful family. He met his wife, Heather, while at Palmer College. (She now is a confirmed Mainer and can’t see herself living anywhere else!) They have two children, Anna and Isaac. They reside in Cape Elizabeth. With various hobbies and passions, they have an active life. Dr. Hayes is a Mustang enthusiast and an avid auto-crosser. They enjoy spending time together as a family, however, his family does try to remind him that life does not revolve around cars!
